The heliotrope gemstone (also known as bloodstone) is an opaque, dark-green fibrous quartz with red spots. The red inclusions are supposed to resemble spots of blood, hence the name bloodstone. There is a legend that says that a bloodstone was first formed when drops of Christ’s blood fell and stained green jasper at the foot of the cross so it is sometimes referred to as “the martyr’s stone”.
Cross charm is one inch.
